FIREWORKS DISPLAY CANCELLED
The executive committee feel that given the Covid restriction we will not be able to run this event.
We hope that next year we will be back and able to run both the Carnival and Fireworks as these are two major fundraising events that keep the group running .
Reviewed 20th July . At this time of reviewing we still feel that it is very unlikely that this event will be allowed to go ahead due to social distancing . We will continue to review and update this page.
The Group hold a firework display at the Bradbourne Vale Rd HQ on a Saturday as near to the 5th November as possible.
With regret, the Group Executive Committee has decided finally to cancel this year’s Riverhead Carnival, which we organise, which was due to take place on the 20th September. Coronavirus regulations have not been sufficiently relaxed to allow us to organise a public event of this scale, and with the date approaching, we have taken the decision to cancel.
We will be back with a bigger, better Carnival on the 19th September 2021, complete with egg throwing, giant slide, coconut shy, beer tent and burgers, among many other commercial and charity stalls. We hope you will be able to support us then.
We have not yet taken a decision regarding the Fireworks Display, which is due to take place on the 31st October 2020 at the Scout HQ. Social distancing requirements make it unlikely that it will go ahead, but we will take a final decision in late September, and post it on this website.
Gates open at 6pm with the first rocket at 7 pm. The display lasts between 20 - 30 minutes and limited car parking is available on the field next to the HQ (subject to weather conditions).
This is designed as a family display. Youngsters that don't like the big bangs can watch from behind double glazed windows in the Scout Hut.
We aim to keep your costs down so, apart from the entrance price, we only sell glow sticks (£1 each) and refreshments - hot dogs, burgers, hot chocolate, mulled wine, beer and soft drinks - with all profits going to the Scout Group.
